Some engagement sessions feel effortless from the very beginning, and Alanna and James’ session at The Meadows was exactly that.

Nestled among beautiful natural landscapes, stone staircases, and rolling greenery, The Meadows provided the perfect backdrop for a session that felt both elegant and relaxed. From the moment these two stepped in front of the camera, it was clear how comfortable they are together. Every glance, smile, and quiet moment reflected the excitement of this season of life.

One of my favourite things about engagement sessions is that they allow couples to slow down and simply enjoy being together. There is no timeline to follow and no wedding-day nerves—just an opportunity to celebrate this chapter before saying “I do.”

Throughout the evening, we explored several areas around the property, including the stunning stone staircases and open green spaces that create such a timeless setting for photographs. The soft evening light paired beautifully with Alanna’s flowing white dress and James’ neutral outfit, creating a look that felt effortless and classic.

As a wedding photographer, engagement sessions are about so much more than beautiful images. They help couples become comfortable in front of the camera, learn what posing naturally feels like, and build confidence before their wedding day. By the time the wedding arrives, it feels less like working with a photographer and more like spending time with a friend.

One of my favourite moments from this session was watching the way they naturally interacted with one another. There was no need for complicated posing—just genuine connection, laughter, and the excitement of planning their future together.
